Yesterday, we celebrated my late dad's birthday, which would have been his 89th birthday. We went to visit his gravesite and had our family devotional prayer there, then headed out for a quick drive, and then back home.
I then baked together two boxed cakes that came with icing - cos I was too lazy to measure out ingredients then baked them together. I cut the large cake in half and added the icing.
We then burst out the bubbly (non-alcoholic of course) and drink it with the cake. It was such a neat time of coming together as a family and celebrating him and the legacy that he left behind for us to continue. So it was a celebration and one we'll keep doing.
I also read the posts that my youngest added to her Instagram account in acknowledging being named after him. As my dad was the first visitor who held her and I knew that I would name our youngest after him and carries the name well for him.
Today, I went for my usual brisk one-hour, 5 km walk and enjoyed the scenery, the fresh air and the beautiful water. I feel like I get drawn to the water as its calming and lovely on a sunny day. It reminds me that we have been blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the world...
